What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is both the science and the art of inserting sterile, disposable, hair-thin needles into specific points on the body where vital energy (or “Qi”) accumulates, in order to bring healing to the body.

Acupuncture is one of the foundations of Chinese Medicine which also include chinese herbs, qi gong and nutrition and massage.

The Qi flows through the body via a circuit system of energy channels called meridians and along these channels are specific acu-points which are used during treatment. The Chinese believe that Qi constitutes the basic life force of the body, of nature and of all living things.

When there is an imbalance in the flow of energy through the meridians, one experiences manifestations of injury, pain, disease, emotional trauma, or mental stress. Acupuncture is used to resolve and harmonize the imbalance by moving the Qi through the energy channels which serve to stimulate the body’s innate healing processes.

Acupuncture is also a powerful preventative medicine and can be used to support wellness. Acupuncture is safe, gentle, relaxing and effective.
