Specialty Techniques

Moxibustion

A traditional Chinese medicine therapy using the dried herb mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) to warm the acupuncture points and/or other areas of the body in order to stimulate circulation and induce a smooth flow of energy.

Tui Na

A hands-on therapy, using techniques that are similar to massage, used to move the energy in the meridians and muscles.

Cupping

A therapy that creates a local suction or vacuum on the skin to move energy stagnation and improve the flow of Qi in the body. Cupping can help with respiratory conditions and many muscloskeletal issues.

Gua Sha

Another traditional Chinese medicine therapy in which the skin is lightly “scraped” with the side of a chinese soup. Like cupping, gua sha stimulates blood flow to promote healing. It feels like massage with a little more pressure.

Auricular Therapy

In Chinese medicine the ear is considered a microsystem of the entire body so in situations where it isn’t possible or desirable to do acupuncture on the body, one can use the points on the ear to effect change. Battlefield Acupuncture is based on this theory.
